Don’t try any of these things that can cause hallucinations, at home!
Except for maybe number 2 on our list as hallucinations from that are probably quite harmless!
However, most of the others come accompanied with terrifying side-effects. However, it probably is worthwhile to become wary of certain foods and activities that could cause you to lose touch with reality. It will blow your mind when you learn about everyday things that can cause hallucinations.
1. Cough Syrup
Be careful to take the prescribed dose of cough syrup, as you could end up hallucinating! Cough syrup contains dextromethorphan (DXM) which tells your brain to suppress coughs.
Dangerously overdosing could send you into a euphoric mind-altered state. But don’t try this at home! Those trippy sensations could send you into a coma, or even kill you. If you suspect you have overdosed, seek immediate medical attention.

Most indigenous cultures find dance integral to their rituals even to this day. They start to hallucinate spirits and believe their mind is expanding. The Sufi religion centers on spinning yourself into a state of euphoria. Small children also know this secret.
Go easy on the coffee! If you are so tired that you feel you need a 3rd brew of coffee, you could find yourself wishing you had just taken a nap!
Researchers discovered that people who overdosed on caffeine would start to hear voices. They began seeing things that were not actually there. But don’t rush out to do this for fun! These symptoms are actually the beginning of having a psychotic episode.
