Nudists and Naturists declare their focus is not sexual

If nudity isn’t sexual then why get naked? There are many reasons people engage in public nudity. Some of the most popular reasons are for advertisement, promotion, and attention. It seems that political activism goes hand and hand with naturists.

Here are the top 7 reasons nudists use to convince us their beliefs are not sexual:

1. Nudism intends a way of life that is harmonious with nature

The idea of oneness with nature and the world at large is not unique to the naked. People from every religion and walk of life enjoy nature. Walks on the beach, breathing the salty sea air or climbing a mountain with rocks beneath your feet are two scenes we can all imagine and revel. One does not have to be nude to enjoy nature in any environment.

In fact, humans are the only animal with minimal fur or hair to protect us from the elements. If this isn’t a sign we are meant to layer ourselves with things of warmth, I have no idea what is. In the summer months when the weather is already warm, our skin cells react protectively to block the damage of the elements. Again, this is a sign we were meant to wear some layer of protection. This is the most basic level.

2. Nudity is not about sex any more than it is about fashion

Fashion is used to present an image. Change your outfit, change your attitude and create variance in perception. Fashion can be conservative or liberal. Obviously comparing nudity to fashion does not work.

The message that both convey is the more skin that shows, the more we get aroused. This is true with or without clothes. It might be that your intention is not to arouse, but control another’s response is beyond your intention or control. We all know that sex is on the brain, all the time. Therefore, naked or dressed, people will have sexual thoughts, ideas, and desires, regardless of innocent intentions.

How many times have rape victims been questioned about their state of dress? Could it be because most people believe that clothes can tease and elicit sexual arousal? If coverings over our bodies can do this, why can’t our birthday suits?

3. Porn promotes view that nudity and sex go together

Porn, pedophilia, any naked pictures can arouse. Media and sexual abuse have tainted what could be innocent. However, the fact remains it is the viewer that interprets the context of an encounter or observation.

We are all familiar with the damage pornography and every type of sexual perversion and abuse. Suffice to say, nudity plays a significant part in this sickness.

4. Nudists have an innate need for everyone to conform

Go to a nudist beach and what will you see? A sign is saying, “no clothes beyond this point.”

I think it’s quite safe to say; nudists are insecure. They don’t want to be nude alone. They want everyone to validate their decision. That’s why there is so much hype about this topic. Nudists want justification, validation, and conformity. Conformity is a valiant sign of insecurity.

A naturist is insecure.

5. Nudism is not exhibitionism

There are many documented cases of people protesting nude about a political cause. This isn’t for the sake of the cause. It’s for shock value and to gather attention. Advertising, media and promotional literature all contain tricks to harnessing attention and keeping it. Nudists are no different.

6. Nudist promote an evolving self-respect

People who engage in nudist communities do so to increase their self-esteem and self-respect. Again conforming and fitting in gains approval. To them I say, go into your own space alone and learn to like your own body, privately. There is a great power in that exercise. More powerful than trying to gain the approval of others.

7. Nudists believe in the conscious decision of consent

Many naturists would turn your focus to the idea of consent. Spouting rhetoric that being nude doesn’t give consent to be sexual. Nevertheless, being nude already puts a person in a physically vulnerable place. If I am nude, on the beach with my nude friends, just because I am thinking about the peaceful day, doesn’t mean that a group of nude boys won’t approach with ideas of a sexual nature in their heads. I can’t know what they are thinking, but I am vulnerable.

Nudist also insist sex is a behavior not a state of dress. Meanwhile, sex is also a concept dictating our society. Everything you see in the media today has something to do with sex. Everyone loves thinking about it, talking about it and doing it. It’s not just a behavior it is a mindset, thought process and sometimes it is even a severe perversion.

This is a compromising scene. I would have no boundary to protect me. If I say out loud that I don’t agree to any sexual contact, that is no guarantee that the boys won’t disrespect me in their minds.

The Truth:

Nudity inspires sex. Basic animal instincts to fulfill sexual urges is not conscious. Rather it is instinctual. If you give in to the desire or impulse to be and feel free, then you are also subject to other desires and impulses simultaneously.

Craving the approval and validation from another can make a person an easy target for abuse. Don’t put yourself in that position.
