Sitting Too Much Ages You By 8 Years
Obesity, diabetes and heart problems have all been linked to sitting for too many hours, now researchers believe that lack of activity throughout the day could also cause you to age much faster.
According to the American Journal of Epidemiology “sitting has detrimental effects on cells at the biological level“. The studies lead researcher Aladdin Shadyab, a post-doctoral fellow in family medicine and public health at the University of California San Diego, reviewed the impact sitting has on chromosomes by taking blood samples from 1,500 older women.
Those women who women who didn’t get the daily half hour of exercise, those who spent 10 hours or more engaged in sedentary activity (10 hours or more) had shorter telomeres than those who spent less time sitting everyday.
