OMG! Harry Potter Writer Reveals Existence of Secret Manuscript

Harry Potter Author J. K. Rowling has admitted that a secret manuscript exists.

In a recent interview, Rowling admitted to having written a secret book which she was allegedly keeping in her closet. Rowling made an appearance on CNN to bring attention to her charity Lumos. During the interview with Christiane Amanpour, Rowling disclosed the location of a legendary manuscript, which fans assumed must have been long gone.

According to Rowling, she brought the secret manuscript out into plain view last Halloween. She had decided to celebrate her 50th birthday on the belated date of the 31st of October. Her party theme had been “come as your worst nightmare.”

Rowling went on to explain how she decided to come to the party as her particular worst nightmare: a lost manuscript. Her costume consisted of a dress upon which she had written a portion of a book she had written around a decade ago. A book she had never published.

Hints about a secret manuscript

The rags to riches author had hinted at the existence of an unpublished book during an interview with TIME magazine in December 2007. The magazine had just bestowed upon Rowling the title of Person of the Year and interviewed the Harry Potter creator not long after she completed the final 7th book in the series.

During the conversation with journalist Nancy Gibbs, she asked Rowling what the future held for her, now that she felt she had exhausted the Harry Potter storyline. Rowling revealed that she was working on a couple of projects. These projects included a novel aimed at adults, and also a “political fairy tale.”  Accordingly, under the pen name Robert Galbraith, Rowling did indeed begin to release a series of detective novels.

However, Rowling never mentioned the supposed political fairy tale again. At least, not until March 2016 when a Harry Potter fan took to Twitter to confront Rowling about its whereabouts. Rowling responded with “I didn’t like it enough to publish it. It’s in a drawer!

So, after Rowling’s disclosure to Amanpour on Monday, clearly, we know this manuscript still exists. Will Rowling publish it? Rowling did not elaborate. However, what we do know is that there is a dress hanging in Rowling’s wardrobe covered in this secret story.

Insatiable fans

Harry Potter fans are almost insatiable for Rowling to write more books. Rowling has sought to fulfill this need through avenues such as the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The author is also converting this exciting trilogy into a series of blockbuster films.

Rowling also has an extremely popular web-site called Pottermore where she fills fans in on additional trivia about their favorite characters.
