Every zodiac sign requires material possessions to survive in this world, but how materialistic each person is, differs vastly.
Just how materialistic are you? Do you need a lot of material possessions? Or do you prefer a minimalistic lifestyle with as few material items to weigh you down, as possible?
Each zodiac sign has a different attitude to material possessions. For example, Taurus and Leo think material possessions are essential. Meanwhile, Aries and Virgo have strong desires for physical resources. However, each of those signs accumulates material items for different reasons.
Additionally, one zodiac sign’s trash is another zodiac sign’s treasure. Some believe that material resources are for sharing with others. While yet other zodiac signs think physical possessions are a reflection of their status or their source of security.
Check the description below, as it applies to either your sun sign or rising sign, to determine just how materialistic you are!
born March 21 – April 19
Aries are surprisingly materialistic, but they notoriously do not think deeply about the possessions they accumulate. Purchases are often spur of the moment, based on a feeling of desire.
Additionally, Aries love possessions that they can experience sensually. They will purchase clothes, and items for the home, based on a strong aesthetic desire. However, they can fall victim to wanting more than they can logically actually accumulate. Aries have to be careful not to make spur of the moment purchases and end up in debt!
Aries is most likely to purchase things that will give them an immediate experience. When buying clothes, for example, they will prioritize how something makes them feel. Also, this can lead them to purchase activities rather than physical items. A photograph of them jumping out of a plane in a parachute could quite possibly be one of their favorite possessions!
born April 20 – May 20
Notoriously, Taurus cannot stop thinking about material possessions. They have the highest aesthetic IQ of the zodiac and are connoisseurs of all things tangible. One would imagine that Taurus people are extremely materialistic, but this is not quite true.
The myth of excessive Taurus materialism comes from the fact that they likely always talk about, and listen to information about, things they would like to possess. However, Taurus is more likely only to seek the finer things in life, rather than accumulate unnecessary items. Still, they have incredibly varied tastes and can communicate an impression that they have great wealth, even when they don’t.
Therefore, a Taurus is likely to buy a vintage wine they can appreciate or a work of fine art that will enhance their surroundings. Possessions of the most exceptional quality are how Taurus communicate their essence to the outside world.
born May 21 – June 20
Gemini tends not to be too materialistic, as they are forever changing their minds about material items, depending on their mood. Consequently, they may make may purchases that they end up taking back to the store.
Indeed, if Gemini could live on the air they breathe alone, they would. Still, they are willing to make purchases that will connect them to others. They will buy you lunch so you can sit and talk, or they will purchase the latest smartphone to make connecting with others more convenient. They also may have a stationery addiction!
The only possessions that a Gemini will likely accumulate or hoard will be countless books. However, many will be half-read, and most will be being read simultaneously with about five or six others! Being surrounded by books, and ways to communicate, are a source of security for Gemini.
born June 21 – July 22
Cancer is hardly materialistic at all. However, they feel very proud of everything they possess. Ultimately, their core motivation for the accumulation of physical resources is so that they can be used to make others comfortable. They will purchase comfortable furniture and comforting food so they can shine a nurturing light on those that they love.
In fact, Cancer is more likely to sacrifice their own material needs to provide for the material needs of others. They are the sort of person who will dress their children up exceptionally well, in warm coats, and then forget to leave the house with a coat for themselves. Also, they are likely to purchase ingredients for a three-course feast, but barely let themselves sit down to take a bite for themselves.
