Before 1903, when the Wright Brothers made their historical first flight, humans being able to take to the air like a bird was considered mere fantasy. Over a hundred years later, we take it for granted, and air travel is run of the mill.
But many flight engineers are still imagining amazing new innovations in air travel, and many may soon become a reality. These are the latest ideas that we are likely to see very soon.
Windowless Supersonic Jet
Imagine traveling from London to New York in only 3 hours. Spike Aerospace are developing a business plane called the S-512 Supersonic Jet.
This is over 720km/ph faster than a regular flight. What is also radical about this design is that it doesn’t create a sonic boom, which is prohibited around the world. The Muliplex Digital Cabin also promises to be luxurious and give panoramic views.
Airbus Concept Plane
Airbus want to innovate passenger comfort and find ways to be environmentally friendly with the materials that they utilize to do this.
Passenger safety is at the forefront as they endeavor to use new scientific techniques that enable the materials used to construct the plane to self-heal in case of damage. The are envisaging quieter and more fuel efficient engines and wing and tail design that also contribute to a smoother glide.
Hybrid Air Vehicles have brought back the helium airship to marry the best features of helicopters with those of fixed winged aircraft.
This giant and almost weightless aircraft can stay in the air for 5 days – 2 weeks if it is unmanned.
